Ric’s excellent instructions have prompted me to Tweet, retweent and reply on my personal account, I am administrator for the UniSotonLibrary Twitter feed and have been dabbling my feet in the water so to speak but have now jumped in with my personal account.
Lots of “young people” are using Twitter and I recently described it to a colleague as a massive gossip column as you can literally say anything to anyone potentially, which is why as a shy retiring library type – it does not come naturally; but if are students are using it as our academics, so should we.
I have added a film to #filmlist which is one we watched with friends as part of a double bill – “All about my mother” and “All about eve”, watch “All about my mother” first as it is a weepy!
I have finally managed to create a Netvibes page
Not because of Mina’s instructions which were very good but because I was using a browser that was not rendering properly.
Once working I enjoyed putting it together and will make it a favourite and use it to add new “Things” to as we discover them. Keeping up to date is a constant hassle, it is never ending – the flow of information that will make you smarter, work harder, but what to read and when!! My netvibes pages is not work related but personal, when I have time I might use it to create a work one to help me keep up -to-date or rather more organised about keeping up-to-date.
I could not get Netvibes to work in Mozilla so finally tried in Internet Explorer and I think it look as if should – not finished tinkering around yet.
How are people finding it all?
Not sure what I am doing wrong but seem to get Bloglines when try to create default dashboard. Will try again tomorrow but the interface I am seeing is very diffcult to follow – will find someone who has done this and try again.
Everyone seems to be getting on with Sot23Things without much help needed, so either the instructions are brilliant or they are not doing it and not telling anyone!
Let us hope it is the former. I will be doing Things 4,5 and 6 today so will be able to report back on what went well and what I learnt.
I have already got a blog so Thing1 was done
I have registered it with Sot23Things and now need to comment on the other blogs already registered to complete Things 2 and 3.
Learning how to navigate my way around “intuitive” Dashboards brings me out in hives as they are not “intuitive”, as you have to understand the language they are using first. But – never one to moan!! I have soldiered on and added some links to the Sot23Things blog, I have posted and also added a new page with links that work on a powerpoint (you have to view it as a slideshow!)
It takes so much longer that you think but hopefully will enhance the site and make it easier for those technophobes amongst us.
