I have done it, not with any panache or subtelty, in fact cobbled together would sum it up perfectly, I have managed by sheer ineptitude to use 2 blogs to write my posts so they are not even that easy to read but I did them.
I have really enjoyed working on this project, I have made new friends and learnt to work in a new team which when you are used to playing one role in established teams can be very inciteful. I hope that everyone who took part has learnt something, it is inevitable when you embark on something new and unwieldy that not all who start will finish as life gets in the way, so much credit to all those who made it to the end.
The love and craft which has gone into some of the blogs puts my effort into the deepest darkest shade but has inspired me to perhaps spend a little more time on the look and feel so it is harder to ignore when you are behind. A bit mowing the grass, it makes the rest of the garden look better and worth weeding.
Slideshare, I have used this extensively for to help my children with their homework and also had a look at other university sites as I wrote the instructions for 23Things. It is good for a general introduction to topics but the quality of PP does vary. I have never added a PP as what we produce tends to need updating frequently and it is very annoying to see PP with instructios that do not match the screen you are working on.
This looks really interesting and something I will explore when I have more time, I really struggle with multiple versions of things, that many people have to see and comment on and finding a robust way of doing this will be really useful. I created a document and sent to a colleague but she can’t remember her Google email so can’t read it. I will try again and send it to someone doing 23Things and see if I can receive an amended document.
This is my Wordle picture, I am having problems attaching it into anything. It save it but does not want to paste it anywhere, I like the snipping tool which I always forget to use, it makes changing and adapting images very easy.
I like the visual element of both Tagxedo and Wordle, they are clever and a good way of representing static text.
New Mooc – Octel
I have returned to work after 2 weeks off and found a lot of emails from people all over the world introducing themselves so half delighted and half annoyed. I have switched to digest version of the email – thanks for great instructions and will be using my blog to do the work I have to do.
First things I must register the blogs RSS feed so someone can actually read what I am saying
When I had proper time to do the instructions justice, I have really enjoyed the time and intellecutal process of learning about new things or looking at old things with a different eye. We are constantly told to stay up-to-date but it takes time to set up yet another account, figure out how it works, watch videos, download this, remember that licence. Unless you can see a big gain in terms of time saved or fun to be had, it just will not happen.
I know that lots of participants have fallen behind and feel guilty that whent they are catching up it is not done as in depth as they would like but perhaps that is a lesson learned for the next time that we should do less, make them more pertinant to work and give people more time, we will be asking all those who finishe what was good, what was missing and what they will carry on doing. We will be asking those who did not make it beyond the first post what stopped them – with no blame attached so we can change and modify for the next time, if there is one!
I I have played around with this and found some amazing pictures but could not for the life of me, get them in to my blog. I have saved the Wikimedia commons as a favourite as I have read some horror stories especially about images being re-used inappropriately and want to make sure that I am doing it properly.
